Denver-based company, Jabber, was acquired today by Cisco. In an attempt to strengthen its collaboration portfolio, Cisco will incorporate Jabber to bring ubiquity and messaging into the network and make the messaging available to Saas-based collaboration applications with Cisco Connect and premise-based applications with Cisco unified communications. Jabber is known for being built on open standards and enabling collaboration across a variety of messaging and presence systems such as Microsoft Office Communications Server, IBM Sametime, AOL AIM, Google and Yahoo!.
